| Daniel Jeandupeux10 meetings of one week in 1998, with 10 coaches of a high level. Since, Menotti, Zagallo and Biliardo continue to make their mark in the world of football. Zaccheroni trained AC Mila, Inter Milan and Juventus Turin. Lippi became world champion with Italy. Parreira coached South Africa in 2010. In 2011, Trappatoni took care of the national selection of the Irish team at the age of 72 and Heynckes led Bayern Munich. Wenger accomplished his 15th season at the head of Arsenal and Gourcuff continued to make Lorient a real team in Ligue 1. The men got older and their methods did also. But their personality and their vision of football came through the decades without losing their wrinkles. It's with this discovery that I bring to you <<A week with>> Daniel Jeandupeux, December 2011. Daniel Jeandupeux, International footballer, coach, manager, instructor, general manager, sporting director, advisor to the president, TV consultant, sportscaster wrote 'Foot, ma vie' (football, my life), in 1975 and 'Les sorciers du foot' (the wizards of football) in 1997. |
| MARCELLO LIPPI, FOOTBALL OF THE THIRD MILLENIUM<< It's fabulous. When he looks you in the eyes, with his straight and frank look, you can sense he was born to be a boss. He never loses his cool >>. Guerino as always, fulfills his players, confiding his heart and expressing all his respect for Marcello Lippi. << His staff, alongside Ventrone, his physical preperator. Bordon, his goalkeeping coach, and Pezzotti, 2nd in command portray a sentiment of extreme solidity>>. Quite oftten, the personality of a coach reflects that of his group. The robotic portrait of the team of Juventus describes the 'Sir' : organised, dynamic, sure of himself, combative, ambitious and humble, like the car park of his stars. All of whom speak italian with an accent from popular areas : Punto, Bravo, Brava. Humble like their footballers in civil clothing. Humble like Marcello when it comes to knowing your own merits. Shared between fifty odd coaches in Romagne which he received in all simplicity after the first training session of each week. << The most complicated and difficult thing in our situation, is to remain modest. But it is indispensable. >> Extract from the book << A week with >> by Daniel Jeandupeux. |
